My Specialist Project:
We have all been affected by the global
financial meltdown, and this has made me
question whether design has been positively
affected by the forced simplification of graphics and color.
Will we learn from the mistakes made that
have lead to this global crisis?
We generally turn to budget living and No Name products when times are financially tough.
However as soon as we get a little rope we hang ourselves as it is straight back to luxurious living and shopping for high end brands. Is this a
vicious cycle that is too comfortable to break causing us to destroy everything, and
consequently self destruct?
The Shop is a futuristic value store in the year 2045, stocking what may be regular daily items if we do not accept responsibility for our
actions and react. The Shop has been designed to make a social comment and serve as a
warning to mankind.
If we do not learn from our mistakes is this where we could be heading?
“If we can recognize that change
and uncertainty are basic principles,
we can greet the future and the
transformatioin we are undergoing
with the understanding that we do not know enough to be pessimistic.”
